Hatchet grapplers hold awards ceremony

TOMAHAWK – The Tomahawk High School wrestling team held an awards ceremony last month.

The Lady Hatchet grapplers ended the season with a cumulative grade point average of 3.87, while the boys earned a 3.56 GPA.

A total of 47 Tomahawk wrestlers had a 3.00 or better, and eight athletes maintained a 4.00 GPA.

For the girls, Kylie Peissig received the Most Valuable award, while Abby Rosenmeier was named Most Improved. Grace Long had the highest grade point average, and Grace Waring took home the Spirit Award.

The Most Valuable award on the boys’ side went to Hudson Evans. Fletcher Bauman and Nathan Norman each received Most Improved recognition, the Spirit Award went to Jack Derleth and Nathan Norman received the Bob Skubal Excellence in Education award.

The Hatchet boys were Great Northern Conference champions, with 12 athletes earning All-Conference honors. Hudson Evans, Nathan Norman and Blake Younker were named First Team All-Conference, while Tyler Waller, Jack Derleth, Walter Hrobic, Zander Zehner and Fletcher Bauman were Second Team. Honorable Mention recognition went to Harmon Hoffman, Zack Larson, Miles McGowen and Ethan Gibeault.
