TOMAHAWK – Thanks to a donation from the Hatchet Booster Club, the Tomahawk High School (THS) weight room now has a new board that will display current leaders in certain lifts for both male and female athletes.
Erin Olsen, President of the Booster Club, said the Weightlifting Club sought support in highlighting certain milestones and goal attainments in the weight room. The Booster Club approved funding for the board in Dec. 2024.
“This is one of the many ways of how the Booster Club supports the development and training of our local Tomahawk Hatchet athletics,” Olsen stated.
Hatchet Weightlifting Club students helped create and vote on multiple designs provided by Jacob Gilson and BSN Sports, and the board arrived in late February.
“Athletic success for both team and individual sports is directly related to efforts in the offseason, and specifically, the weight room development,” said School District of Tomahawk Activities Director Ryan Flynn, noting that the board “will help drive and promote growth and competition through daily recognition.”
THS Strength and Conditioning Coordinator Cooper Kelley thanked the Booster Club, saying the new addition to the weight room “comes at a great time in Hatchet athletics, with its recent success across various sports in the last few years and the continual investment in the growth of our student-athletes.”
“Our recent success throughout the entire athletic department can be attributed to the effort the kids put in and the belief of coaches to raise the bar of Tomahawk athletics,” Kelley stated.
