EAU CLAIRE – The Tomahawk High School girls’ wrestling team recently competed in Eau Claire and Merrill.

Eau Claire

The Lady Hatchet grapplers traveled to Eau Claire on Saturday, Feb. 1, to take part in a tournament.

The Tomahawk girls ultimately earned third place out of 28 teams. With 274 points, the Hatchets finished behind only Forest Lake, Minn., (374.5 points) and Apple Valley, Minn. (281.5 points).

This strong result was especially significant, as the Lady Hatchets avenged earlier losses this season to Merrill (269 points) and Eau Claire North (206 points), surpassing them in the final standings.

The team’s success reflects their growth and resilience, as they continue to compete at a high level against top-tier teams. Individual achievements were spread across the roster, with several wrestlers earning notable placements.

Schertz, McGovern and Haring each finished 13th, while Cerkes, Roberts and Voermans took 9th. Gabrich placed seventh, Kraklow and Rosenmeier earned sixth, and Thompson and Long claimed fourth. Giebeault and Peissig also earned strong second-place finishes. Waring, Palmer and Molitor contributed with solid performances as well.

This strong showing highlights the continued improvement and growth of the Lady Hatchets throughout the season.

The team had numerous standout performances at the tournament. Lydia Shaney finished in 11th place, while Abbey Carr and Reese Molitor took 10th. Camryn Kraklow secured 8th place, followed by Norah Mann, Grace Waring and Alicia Voermans, who all finished in seventh. Julia McGovern finished in sixth place, while Aubrey Tollefson earned fifth. Abbie Rosenmeier fought hard to take fourth place. Kaylee Roberts, with her continued improvement, finished third, while Elise Gibeault, Payton Haring and Kami Gabrich all earned second-place finishes.
