Emily L. Scheffler, age 75, of Tomahawk, WI, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 26, 2026, at Aspirus Hospice House in Wausau, WI. Emily was born on May 17, 1950, in Helena, MT, to the late Edmund and Vernette (Kleinschmidt) Fabiszewski. On August 28, 1969, Emily was united in marriage to Peter Scheffler. The two met while working together at Wonder Bread & Hostess Cake in Milwaukee, WI, beginning a lifelong partnership. Peter preceded her in death in 2013.
Over the years, Emily and Pete made their home in several Wisconsin communities including Tomahawk, Weston and Stevens Point. While living in Weston, Emily worked as a building manager. Upon both of their retirements, they moved to Stevens Point. Following Pete’s passing, Emily moved to Tomahawk where she worked as a custodian for the Tomahawk School District. Emily found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She was especially fond of crafting and had a particular love for cross stitch. She also enjoyed reading, playing cards, and gardening. Above all, Emily loved spending time with her family.
Survivors include her sons, Bill (Kris) Scheffler and Paul (Jessica) Scheffler; her grandchildren, Jessica (Ryan) Wendelberger, Courtney (Zach) Price, Kaitlyn, Karli, Kale, Elijah, Isaiah (Jesslyn), Dakota, Logan, Malachi, and Skye; and her great-grandchildren, Emma, Elena, Jackson, Madilyn, Amira, Zayne, Leo, Mileena, Jaycie, Lorelei, and Braxton. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edmund and Vernette; her husband, Peter; her grandchildren, Elizabeth Scheffler and Gabriel Scheffler; and her in-laws, Harry and Meta Scheffler.
Funeral services for Emily Scheffler will be held on Sunday, May 24, 2026, at Generations Funeral Home, at 1:00 PM. The family will receive friends for visitation from 11:00 AM until the time of services at 1:00 PM. Burial will be held at Prairie Rapids Cemetery at a later date.
