Dusty R. Carstensen

Dusty R. Carstensen, age 70, of Tomahawk, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 8, 2020 at his home.

Dusty was born on Oct. 8, 1949 to his parents Lawrence Sr. and Estell “Molly” (Vaughan) Carstensen. He married Mary Haring on May 17, 1975. They were married for 45 years. He graduated from Tomahawk High School in 1967. Dusty worked for Georgia Pacific in Tomahawk until 1973. He started working at Marathon Electric in Wausau in the fall of 1973. He worked there for 38 years - eventually earning his journeyman’s card as a Tool and Die Maker. He also liked working on things. He loved making his own hand-made knives. Dusty loved traveling, especially their annual vacation with the grandkids. He also enjoyed horses, hunting, fishing, gardening and in his younger years, motorcycling. Most of all, Dusty loved spending time with his family.

Dusty is survived by his wife – Mary of Tomahawk; Children – Lori (Chad) Lashua and Janice Carstensen, both of Tomahawk; and two grandchildren – Magdalene “Maggie” and Christian “Buddy” Lashua. He is further survived by three brothers – Lawrence “Chick” Carstensen, Jack (Marilyn) Carstensen and Ward (Sandy) Carstensen; three sisters – Nesta (Rollie) Hodge, Mickey Silva and Wilda (Steve) Skubal, all of Tomahawk; four brothers-in-law – Bernie (Carol) Haring, Robert (Bev) Haring, Michael (Melissa) Haring and Joseph (Laura) Haring all of Tomahawk; six sisters-in-law – Agnes (Harry) Fender of Ashley, Ind., Virginia (Robert) Larson of West Bend, Betty Lou McArdle of Las Vegas, Margaret (Peggy) Hitt of Fond du Lac and Patricia (Michael) Butz of St. Cloud, Wis.; and many nephews and nieces.

Dusty is preceded in death by his granddaughter – Abagail Lashua; parents; in-laws – Ben and Betty Haring; brother – Danny Carstensen; and six brothers-in-law – David Silva, Kenn Hitt, Mac McArdle, Bill Lovelace, Richard Haring and Tom Haring; and a sister-in-law – Carol Carstensen.

The Memorial Service for Dusty Carstensen will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 15, 2020 at Krueger Family Funeral Home, Tomahawk. Visitation will take place at the Funeral Home from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m.
