Daniel “Dan” J. Newbauer, age 83, of Merrill, WI, and formerly of Tomahawk, WI, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at his home under the care of his loving family and Aspirus Hospice.
Dan is survived by his wife, Victoria Newbauer, of Merrill, WI; his children, Rebecca (Chris) Schleif, of Merrill, WI, Heath (Patty) Berger, of Medford, WI, and Thea (Carmen) Schmitt, of Stratford, WI; his grandchildren, Hailey (Steven) Erdmann, of Merrill, WI, Tiaja Lee, of Marshfield, WI, Ashayla Lee, of Lenoir, TN, Latrell Lee, of Stratford, WI, Nick (Jenn) Berger, of Medford, WI, Garrett Berger, of Wausau, WI, and Carli (Colton) Florey, of Flagstaff, AZ; and his great-grandchildren, James Erdmann, Freddie Berger, Lainey Berger, and Margaret Berger. He is further survived by several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jerome Newbauer, Sr., and Leona and Robert Barlow; his brother, Jerome Newbauer, Jr.; his sister, Margaret Falkowski; and his brothers-in-law, Danny Falkowski, Robert White, and Peter White.
Dan met life with a gentle spirit and a warm, easy smile that made others feel at home. We rejoice in the promise that this is not goodbye. But a gentle “see you again” until we meet in the presence of our Lord.
