TOMAHAWK – Tomahawk’s Cub Scout Pack 548 held their annual Pinewood Derby races and Blue and Gold Cake Contest this past weekend.
A total of 31 cars participated in the Sunday, Jan. 26 derby at Tomahawk Middle School (TMS), which included scouts, siblings and family members. In addition, 17 scouts and siblings worked with male role models to bake and decorate cakes for the Cake Contest.
The three fastest cars this year were made by Nathan Schultz (1st), Theo Heier (2nd) and Owen Heier (3rd).
Kid-voted car awards were presented to Solomon Alberg (Best Paint Job), Jax Noeske (Most Original), Nathan Schultz (Most Patriotic) and Hayden Barney (Best Scout Theme).
VFW Post 2687 representatives voted for Best in Show Car, which was awarded to Hayden Barney for his tank car.
Dignitaries from the post also also presented the Best in Show Car and Fastest Car with a Challenge Coin.
Kid-voted cake awards were presented to William Wendorf (Best Scout Theme), Max Heier (Most Original), Jax Noeske (Tallest), Gabe Lobermeier and Gideon Lobermeier (Most Patriotic) and Nathan Schultz (Most Colorful).
Samoset Council representative Kristin Tobin voted Best in Show Cake, which was awarded to Ben Schultz for his giant s'more cake.
“Thanks to TMS for letting us hold our event, the VFW for being our charter organization and being our special judge, Samoset Council and Kristin Tobin for being our special judge and to all the parents and grandparents that made this such a special day for our scout families,” the Pack said.
