TOMAHAWK – The City of Tomahawk Common Council is working towards making changes to the city’s designated ATV/UTV routes.

The city’s Board of Public Works, in recent months, has been examining the city’s ATV/UTV route ordinance, under which, designated routes go through residential areas.

The proposed ordinance change would remove ATV/UTV route designations from numerous streets in residential areas, while portions of several roadways, including County Rd. A, County Rd. C, N. 4th St., W. Wisconsin Ave., S. Tomahawk Ave. and Southgate Dr., would remain designated routes.

During the council’s meeting on Tuesday, May 2, it was noted that many operators already travel along the proposed designated routes.

It was suggested during the meeting that local ATV clubs work together and with the city to establish consistency in signage and club maps.

A public hearing regarding the ordinance will be held during the council’s meeting on Tuesday, June 6, after which, the ordinance will be up for a final vote by the council.
