City council OKs Car Show, Main Street Farmers Market permits

TOMAHAWK – The City of Tomahawk Common Council during its Tuesday, March 23 meeting unanimously approved a pair of special event permits requested by Tomahawk Main Street, Inc.

The annual Main Street Memories Car Show is slated for Sunday, May 30 in downtown Tomahawk. The event is scheduled to run from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., with an estimated 2,000 to 5,000 people in attendance. Vendors will sell food during the event, but there will be no alcohol sales, according to the permit.

In years past, over 250 cars have been on display at the event. Last year’s Car Show was called off due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Main Street Farmers Market is set to run each Tuesday from June through October. Each event will set up on 3rd St. at noon and end at 5:30 p.m., with an estimated attendance of 50 to 100 people, the permit stated.

The Car Show and Farmers Market join numerous other events given the green light by the City Council this year.

In February, the council approved three permits requested by the Tomahawk Regional Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber’s Arts and Craft Fair is slated for July 3, 2021 at the SARA Park soccer field, the Brat Fry and Bonfire is scheduled for Sept. 16, 2021 at the SARA Park boat landing, and the annual Venison Feed in downtown Tomahawk is set for Nov. 19, 2021.

Tomahawk Main Street’s Spring Fling Wine Walk and Music on the River both got the thumbs-up from the council on March 2. The Wine Walk is slated for Friday, May 7 and Saturday, May 8, while the annual summer concert series will be held in Veterans Memorial Park every Wednesday from June 23 to July 28.

The City of Tomahawk Common Council’s next meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 20 at 6 p.m.
