TOMAHAWK – The City of Tomahawk Common Council during its Tuesday, Feb. 9 meeting approved three permits requested by the Tomahawk Regional Chamber of Commerce.
Permits for the chamber’s Arts and Craft Fair, slated for July 3, 2021 at the SARA Park soccer field; the Brat Fry and Bonfire, scheduled for Sept. 16, 2021 at the SARA Park boat landing; and the annual Venison Feed, set for Nov. 19, 2021 in downtown Tomahawk, were each approved by the city’s Health and Safety Committee before getting the thumbs-up from the council.
In a letter submitted to the council on Jan. 11, Chamber Executive Director Jesica Witte said the chamber understood that the events could be adjusted, rescheduled, or called off due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“In the wake of the ongoing pandemic and uncertainty of holding large scale events we have decided to submit all of our application (sic) at one time with the caveat that these events are subject to change, be cancelled or postponed,” Witte stated in the letter. “At this time we are anticipating the three events we are applying for will be held in their usual fashion and are asking for the city to provide their standard level of support for those events.”
According to the permits, 1,000 people are expected to attend the Arts and Craft Fair, while 400 people are estimated to attend the Brat Fry and Bonfire. No attendance estimation was included on the Venison Feed permit.
Witte said the chamber plans to “maintain an open line of communication if changes need to occur,” and thanked the City of Tomahawk, the city’s Public Works department, Clerk/Treasurer Amanda Bartz, and the city staff “for their ongoing support to help us continue to promote Tomahawk through special events and celebrations.”
“Your support as a council is also appreciated,” Witte said in concluding the letter.
