LINCOLN COUNTY – Last week, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office announced that the Lincoln County Jail would be implementing two changes regarding inmate communication and mail services.
The changes, effective as of Tuesday, Oct. 20, come at no cost to taxpayers, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
The first change involves inmate mail procedures. The jail now utilizes an off-site mail processing system “to enhance facility safety and security and reduce the introduction of contraband,” the Sheriff’s Office said.
All non-legal inmate mail must be sent to the following address: Inmate Name, Inmate Number, Lincoln County Jail, P.O. Box 591, Longview, Tex., 75606.
“Mail sent to this address will be scanned and delivered electronically to inmates through facility tablets and kiosks,” the Sheriff’s Office explained.
Legal mail must continue to be sent directly to the Lincoln County Jail at 1104 E 1st St., Merrill, Wis., 54452.
The second change involves video visitation and electronic messaging options. The jail has introduced video visitation and electronic messaging through NCIC Correctional Services.
“Friends and family will be able to communicate with incarcerated individuals through several convenient options,” the Sheriff’s Office stated. “These services provide additional ways for friends and family to stay connected without having to send traditional mail.”
To create or manage your NCIC account, visit www.NCIC.com or call 1-800-943-2189.
The Sheriff’s Office said it encourages family and friends of individuals incarcerated at the Lincoln County Jail to review the updated procedures and share the information with anyone who may be affected.
“Thank you for your cooperation and understanding during this transition to improve facility security and communications opportunities for incarcerated individuals in our facility,” the Sheriff’s Office stated.
