TOMAHAWK – The Tomahawk Regional Chamber of Commerce last week announced the winners of its community-wide logo contest celebrating the 45th anniversary of the Northwoods Fall Ride.
The Chamber launched the contest in February, with the winning design becoming the official anniversary logo featured on events, merchandise and marketing throughout the celebration year.
Community members, artists and designers of all ages and experience levels were invited to submit original logo concepts that capture the spirit and history of the annual motorcycle rally, which draws tens of thousands of visitors to Tomahawk each year.
On Saturday, June 20, the Chamber announced that John Rogers and Dylan Turpanjian were selected as the winners of the contest.
The Chamber said the logo design by Rogers and Turpanjian “captures the heart of what makes Fall Ride so special – Wisconsin pride, patriotism, the beauty of our Northwoods and a tradition that has been rolling strong for 45 years.”
“This logo is more than just a design,” the Chamber stated. “It represents the people, memories, friendships and community spirit that have made Fall Ride a Tomahawk tradition for generations.”
Rogers and Turpanjian said their design was “born out of all things Wisconsin and America,” with “home of the free (bald eagle) and land of the brave (Old Glory) representing all the women and men who have been defending our freedoms for the past 250 years.”
“The logo is elegantly framed by the outline of Her borders and clearly defined in green and gold, representing Packer nation and the winning spirit held by us,” the artists said. “The 45th running of the ‘Fall Ride’ is spelled out in bold Badger red, shadowed in black, which separates the busyness of Green Bay, Madison and Milwaukee and the towering trees that welcome riders from all over this great country into the serene, natural beauty of our Northwoods.”
Rogers and Turpanjian said the tire and wheel “boldly highlight the significance of this running” and noted that the fact that Fall Ride is “rolling strong after all these years” signifies that the rally is a “true Northwoods tradition.”
The artists explained that the inspiration for the design originated with the purchase of property along the Jersey Flowage three years ago and having attended Fall Ride festivities in Tomahawk, including taking part in the Friday night Thunder Parade.
“The genuine sense of community and the good old days is present everywhere in Tomahawk, from the very personable WJJQ DJs broadcasting local happenings, to the welcoming Chamber representatives and small business owners all over town and throughout the surrounding hamlets of the Northwoods,” Rogers and Turpanjian stated, adding that they appreciate the opportunity to participate in the logo contest.
“Thank you to everyone who submitted their creativity and helped us celebrate this milestone year,” the Chamber said. “We can’t wait to see this logo come to life on merchandise, signage and throughout the 45th anniversary celebration. Here’s to honoring our history and riding into the future together.”
