Bertha Marie Wurl

Bertha Marie Wurl, age 100, passed away on Monday, Dec. 2, 2024, at Country Terrace Assisted Living in Tomahawk under the care of Compassus Hospice. Bertha was born on Nov. 17, 1924, in Perkins, Mich., to the late Edmund and Alvina (Hall) Day. She was raised in Escanaba, Mich., and moved to Milwaukee, Wis., in 1946. Bertha married Jack Wurl in 1948 and they moved to Tomahawk in 1950. He passed away in August of 2000.

Bertha worked for Dr. R.J. Henderson, Solar Permanent, National Livetrap, and Owens-Illinois. She retired from O-I in 1983. Bertha loved gardening, reading, and especially participating in the Lutheran World Relief Quilters Group.

Survivors include her two sons, Michael (Debra) Wurl and Jim (Rosie) Wurl; her grandchildren, Ann Lochner, Julie Wurl, and Paul Wurl; and her great-grandchildren, Jonathon, Kayleigh, Lynnsie, Maddy, and Nichole Lochner, and Emily Wurl.

Memorial services for Bertha took place on Friday, Dec. 6, 2024, at 11 a.m., at Grace Lutheran Church. Rev. Julie Sinkula will officiate. The family will receive friends for visitation at 10 a.m. until the hour of services at 11 a.m. Inurnment will take place in the spring at Greenwood Cemetery.
