Annual Pinewood Derby, Cake Contest held by Tomahawk Cub Scouts

TOMAHAWK – On Saturday, Feb. 28, Tomahawk’s Cub Scout Pack 548 held their annual Pinewood Derby races and Blue and Gold Cake Contest.

A total of 36 cars from Scouts, siblings and family members took part in the event.

In addition, 13 scouts and siblings worked with male role models to bake and decorate cakes for the Cake Contest.

The three fastest Scout cars this year were made by Rylee W. (1st), Max H. (2nd) and Gideon L. (3rd).

Ben S., sibling, had the fastest car of the day.

Kid-voted car awards were presented to Theo H. (Best Paint Job), Jeb F. (Most Original) and Gideon L. (Most Patriotic and Best Scout Theme).

Caleb F. had the best gas mileage of the day.

VFW Post 2687 representatives voted for Best in Show Car, which was awarded to Jeb F. VFW representatives also presented the Best in Show Car and Fastest Car with a challenge coin.

Kid-voted cake awards were presented to Luke M. (Best Scout Theme), Maxwell F. (Most Original), Nathan S. (Tallest), Nolan S. (Most Patriotic) and Rutledge F. (Most Colorful).

Samoset Council representative Dave Schult voted for Best in Show Cake, which was awarded to Maxwell F. for his giant hamburger cake.

“Thanks to Tomahawk Middle School for letting us hold our event, VFW for being our charter organization and being our special car judges, Samoset Council and Dave Schult for being our special cake judge, and to all the parents and grandparents that made this such a special day for our Scout families,” said Pack 548 Secretary Christina Schultz.
