Ambassadors welcome Rural Mutual to Tomahawk

TOMAHAWK – The Tomahawk Ambassadors recently held a ribbon cutting ceremony at Rural Mutual Insurance Company.

Michael has been a resident of Tomahawk since 1991, when his parents bought a resort in the area. His wife, Anastasia Biever, is a lifelong resident; they were married in Tomahawk in 1997. Michael was part of the Kwahamot Water Ski shows for several years, and both of Michael and Stacey’s kids skied in the show as well.

Michael started in insurance with State Farm in 1996. He worked for a few local companies in Merrill and Rhinelander before coming back to the insurance business in the summer of 2024. They then opened the Rural Mutual office in Tomahawk in November of 2024.

Michael is excited to bring all the products that Rural Mutual has to our community, as Rural Mutual only sells in the State of Wisconsin, meaning premiums paid here, stay here. That is very important to Michael and his customers.

Rural Mutual offers a wide variety of products, including home, auto, farm, life and commercial insurance. They even insure towns. They also have a brokerage service where Michael can offer insurance for the things that Rural does not have a product for. Classic cars and special event insurance are just a few of the things he can get you covered for.

Michael has been very involved in the community. He has been involved with hockey since the age of five. He grew up in St, Paul, Minn., and played through high school. He played with the men’s team in Tomahawk for many years. When his kids were old enough to play, he helped run the Tomahawk Hockey Association as a coach, on ice official and board member, and served a term as the association President. Michael has been an ice hockey official since the age of 12 and has been a licensed official with the WlAA for the past 20 years. In 2023, he was selected to officiate the Girls High School Hockey State Championship game in Middleton.
