On Jan. 8, 2025, the Lincoln County Administrative & Legislative (A&L) Committee adjourned into closed session to evaluate the broker proposals received to select a broker to represent the County to facilitate the sale of Pine Crest Nursing Home. All members of the A&L Committee were present at the meeting including Chair Jesse Boyd, Greg Hartwig, Lori Anderson-Malm, Angela Cummings, Marguerite Lyskawa, Ken Wickham, and Julie DePasse.
Afterward, the meeting reconvened into open session to take action on the items discussed in closed session.
Julie DePasse made a motion and Ken Wickham seconded a motion “to award the brokerage contract of Pine Crest Nursing Home to Marcus & Millichap as the committee believes it is the most advantageous bid for Lincoln County, and to further authorize the Administrative Coordinator, Corporation Counsel, and Board Chairman to negotiate the contract terms.” The motion carried on a voice vote.
The Lincoln County Board had previously passed a resolution granting the A&L Committee the authority to select the broker for this purpose.
Marcus & Millichap is the same broker that helped facilitate the offer to sell Pine Crest which the buyer terminated on June 28, 2024, in response to a lawsuit filed to stop the sale by Lincoln County Board Supervisor Donald Dunphy. That sale had been set to close June 30, 2024, and had then been postponed to Sept. 30, 2024, but did not take place.
People for Pine Crest, the local grassroots organization that formed in 2023 in opposition to the sale of Pine Crest Nursing Home, has scheduled a town hall style meeting to be held on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2025, at 10 a.m. at the Merrill Expo Center (Merrill Fairgrounds), 303 N. Sales St. in Merrill. “The meeting is open to the public and all concerned Citizens of Lincoln County are encouraged to attend,” they said in a Jan. 25 press release.
“People for Pine Crest has been involved in a lot of research, reaching out to many resources to find a solution to keeping Pine Crest owned by Lincoln County and securing a 5-star rated facility to remain for our aging population,” the release said. “A majority of Lincoln County Board Members have no interest in keeping Pine Crest County owned, citing affordability. The People for Pinecrest beg to differ.”
“The town hall meeting will have a wealth of information from State agencies as well as other presenters, showing that there are options to keep and maintain our beloved facility,” the release said.
