60 years and counting: Venison Feed returns to downtown Tomahawk Friday

Posted

TOMAHAWK – On Friday, hunters, family and friends will once again gather in downtown Tomahawk for a tradition that’s been going strong for six decades.

The Tomahawk Regional Chamber of Commerce’s 60th annual Venison Feed will be held on the west end of W. Wisconsin Ave. on Friday, Nov. 21, at 11:30 a.m. The public is encouraged to attend.

The event will see free grilled venison burgers and soda served up by volunteers from various local organizations, while supplies last. Beer will be available for purchase.

For 60 years, the Venison Feed has served as a kickoff to Wisconsin’s nine-day gun deer season, offering a chance for hunters and loved ones to don their blaze orange and enjoy food, beverages and camaraderie before heading out to the woods.

The venison will be processed by Geiss Meats.

Event booths and sponsors include Tomahawk High School (THS) Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR), The Rock Church of Tomahawk, WJJQ, Duwayne Kreager Insurance, the City of Tomahawk, Bethel Excavating/Northern Wisconsin Land Services, Country Financial, Wausau Homes/John J. Schoone Construction, NorthStar Restoration and Park City Credit Union.
