Monies will be used to improve book selection, technology

TOMAHAWK – State Treasurer Sarah Godlewski visited the School District of Tomahawk on Wednesday, Sept. 28 to present funding allocated to the Tomahawk Middle School (TMS) library.
Godlewski met with District Administrator Wendell Quesinberry, Board of Education member Deb Velleux, TMS Principal Stacy Bolder, LMC Director Paula Norman and several eighth grade students to highlight how the TMS library will utilize $48,380.00 it received from the Common School Fund.
A release from Godlewski’s office said the Common School Fund, one of four funds managed by the Board of Commissioners of Public Lands (BCPL), provides the sole source of funding for over 90% of Wisconsin’s public school libraries to help purchase books and technology.
“Further, the distributions from these funds help Wisconsin families by keeping these costs off of property tax bills,” the release stated.
This year, the Common School Fund is providing a record-breaking $40.6 million distribution to public school libraries in the Badger state.
Quesinberry said the district is thankful for the funding.
“Our district is extremely proud of our schools and libraries, and the funds provided by BCPL will allow us to further improve our selection of books and technology to help our students grow,” Quesinberry stated. “Our role as educators is to put students in the best position to succeed, and this money will go a long way in allowing us to continue providing these valuable resources for all of our students.”
