Football: Tomahawk blanked by Crandon in first loss of season

CRANDON – The Tomahawk Hatchet football team lost its first game of the season in Crandon on Friday, Sept. 9. The final score was 38-0.

Crandon racked up 397 total yards to Tomahawk’s 123. All of the Cardinals’ yardage came on the ground, with 11 different rushers getting touches and four scoring at least one touchdown. Crandon’s single pass attempt was incomplete.

Tomahawk went 0-6 and 0-1 on third and fourth downs, respectively.

The Hatchets logged 30 rushing yards on 17 attempts.

Quarterback Tyler Jablonski went 9-16 through the air with one interception. On the ground, Jablonski rushed 12 times for 29 yards while losing one fumble.

Mason Evans caught three passes for 45 yards, while Addison Peissig reeled in four passes for 48 yards.

Tomahawk’s overall record now stands at 3-1 (1-1 in conference). Crandon is now 3-1 overall and 2-0 in conference.

Tomahawk will play at home this week, when the Oconto Falls Panthers come to Hatchet Field on Friday, Sept. 16. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
