TOMAHAWK – Nearly a dozen special event permit applications will head to the City of Tomahawk Common Council for review after the city’s Health and Safety Committee approved the applications during its meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 23.
The committee gave the green light to 11 permit applications, bringing a host of annual Tomahawk events one step closer to officially being added to the 2022 calendar.
The permits require final approval from the city council.
Spring Fling Wine Walk
Tomahawk Main Street, Inc.’s Spring Fling Wine Walk, is slated for Friday, May 6 in downtown Tomahawk. An estimated 200 people are expected to attend the event, which will feature an art show along with the wine walk. Main Street requested that the city’s open intoxicants ordinance be waived from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. for the event.
Main Street Memories Car Show
The annual Main Street Memories Car Show, sponsored by Tomahawk Main Street, is scheduled for Sunday, May 29, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Main Street estimates that between 2,000 and 5,000 people will attend the event, according to the permit application. Food concessions will be available, but no alcohol will be sold during the event.
Tomahawk Main Street Farmers Market
The Tomahawk Main Street Farmers Market, located on 3rd St. downtown, is slated to run from noon to 5:30 p.m. on Tuesdays from June through October. An estimated 50 to 100 people are expected attend the weekly farmers market, which is sponsored by Tomahawk Main Street.
Music on the River
Music on the River, Tomahawk’s annual summer concert series, is scheduled for each Wednesday from June 22 to July 27 at Veterans Memorial Park. The events will set up at 4 p.m. and conclude at 8 p.m., according to the permit application. Attendance is estimated to be between 800 and 1,000 people per week. No food or alcohol will be sold during the concerts.
Tomahawk Chamber Arts & Craft Fair
The Tomahawk Regional Chamber of Commerce’s Arts & Craft Fair will be held in the soccer field at SARA Park on Sunday, July 3 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Roughly 1,000 people are expected to attend the event. Food concession information was not available at the time the permit application was submitted to the committee, according to the permit application.
Brat Fry & Bonfire
The Chamber’s Brat Fry & Bonfire is scheduled to take place at the SARA Park Boat Landing from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 15. An estimated 400 people are expected to attend the event, which serves as a kickoff to Fall Ride weekend. There will be food concessions and alcohol sales during the event.
Tomahawk Veterans Fall Ride
Downtown events for Tomahawk Veterans Fall Ride, sponsored by Tomahawk Main Street, are slated to take place on Friday, Sept. 16 and Saturday, Sept. 17, with 30,000 to 40,000 people attendees expected daily. Merchandise and food vendors, as well as live music and refreshments, will be available downtown. Beer tents will be set up on the N. 2nd St., N. 3rd St., and S. 4th St. intersections of W. Wisconsin Ave.
Main Street requested that the city’s open intoxicant ordinance be waived in the event area from 2 p.m. to midnight on Friday, Sept. 16; and from noon to midnight on Saturday, Sept. 17, with beer sales ending at 11:30 p.m. each night.
Tomahawk Chamber & WuWui Beer Tent and Music at SARA Park
The Chamber and WaWui are set to sponsor a beer tent and live music at Ball Diamond #2 at SARA Park from Thursday, Sept. 15 through Saturday, Sept. 17, during Fall Ride. Beer will be sold from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 16 and Saturday, Sept. 17, with live music taking place from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 15; from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16; and from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 17.
Thunder Parade
The Thunder Parade, sponsored by Tomahawk Main Street, is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 16 during Fall Ride. According to the permit application, parade participants will line up along Kings Road at 5 p.m., and the parade will end at the 100 block of S. Tomahawk Ave.
Annual Venison Feed
The Chamber’s annual Venison Feed is slated take place on Friday, Nov. 18, from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on W. Wisconsin Ave. between S. Tomahawk Ave. and Railway St. The Chamber requested that the city’s open intoxicant ordinance be waived for the event.
Hometown Christmas
Hometown Christmas, sponsored by Tomahawk Main Street, is slated for Friday, Dec. 9, from 3:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on W. Wisconsin Ave. downtown. The event will feature a parade, live window displays, a warming pit, walking carolers, bell ringers and music performances. No food or alcohol sales will take place during the event, which is estimated to see roughly 1,000 attendees.
