February League of Women Voters meeting to shine light on Northwoods chapter

For the Tomahawk Leader

NORTHERN WISCONSIN – The February meeting of the League of Women Voters of the Northwoods (LWVNOW) will shine a light on “the work of this local League throughout the Northwoods communities in educating voters and defending democracy,” a release from LWVNOW said.

“Perhaps you have thought about joining the League, or helping out as a volunteer,” LWVNOW stated. “Or you may already be a member, but not exactly sure how the League determines the work that is needed and how it gets done. The engaging format of this program, provided by the LWVNOW leadership, is sure to offer a lively exchange of information and opportunities.”

The virtual meeting will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 8, at 6:30 p.m. The meeting is open to the public. Visit www.lwvnow.org to register.

The LWVNOW encompasses Florence, Forest, Langlade, Lincoln, Oneida and Vilas counties. The local league belongs to the state and national League of Women Voters, “a non-partisan organization devoted to helping members and fellow citizens develop educated political opinions and act upon them through the democratic process.” The league’s monthly meetings and sponsored events are open to all. Contact the league by emailing [email protected] or visiting www.lwvnow.org.
