Bell ringing kicks off Nov. 19; volunteers needed

TOMAHAWK – The Salvation Army of Tomahawk this week announced that Phil Luell has been named the Honorary Chairman of the 2021 Red Kettle Campaign.
Luell has been actively volunteering with the Salvation Army of Tomahawk since 2008, serving as Local chair of the Salvation Army board, overseeing the intake office and numerous other functions of the local Salvation Army office.
“We wish to thank Phil for his years of service to the community, not only for the Salvation Army and the Happy Kids Backpack program, but also the Tuesday Night Community meal (Open Arms Soup Kitchen) and the Tomahawk Food Pantry,” a release from the Salvation Army of Tomahawk said. “When asked why he gives so much time to volunteering, especially to the Salvation Army, Phil simply replies, ‘It comes from within.’ God bless you, Phil!”
The release said the Salvation Army board has set a fundraising goal of $55,000, which will fund emergency assistance for those in need, along with supplementing the budget of the Happy Kids Backpack program.

“Without our volunteer ringers from churches, school organizations, businesses, business organizations and individual volunteers, we would not be able to reach our goal,” stated Dennis Mannering, co-coordinator with Wendy.
“We have an amazing, generous community,” the Mannerings said.
For those who cannot volunteer to ring but would like to contribute to the Salvation Army effort, donations may be mailed to Salvation Army of Tomahawk, 108 E. Somo Ave., Tomahawk, Wis., 54487. Checks can be made out to Salvation Army of Tomahawk.
