Gloria I. White

Gloria I. White, 89, a longtime Town of Nokomis resident, passed away Thursday, July 22, 2021 at Pine Crest in Merrill.

Gloria was born in Dec. 18, 1931 in LaSalle, Ill., to Frank and Irene (Coleman) Bassett. She was united in marriage to Phillip L. White on Jan. 20, 1951 here in Tomahawk. Phil passed away in 2007. Gloria had worked at Johnson Level, Prange Way, and drove school bus in the Nokomis area for over 20 years. She had also run Bassett Point Resort on the Willow. Gloria enjoyed farming, birds, and loved attending her grandchildren’s activities. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church.

Surviving Gloria are five children: Jacquelyn (Gary) Gaedtke and Joan Kleinschmidt, both of Tomahawk; Debra (Henry) Andrade of Arizona; Patricia Ingman of Wausau; and Kenneth (Esther) White of Biloxi, Miss. She is further survived by 14 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and four siblings.

Mass of Christian Burial for Gloria White was held on Monday, July 26, 2021 at 11 a.m. from St. Mary Catholic Church. The family received friends at the church Monday morning from 9 a.m. until the time of Mass at 11 a.m. The family asked that facemasks be worn. Burial followed in Prairie Rapids Cemetery.

The family would appreciate memorials to the Tomahawk Soup Kitchen or Nokomis Food Pantry.

The White family would like to thank the staff at Pine Crest in Merrill for the wonderful care given to Gloria.
