Lincoln County Highway Department announces summer projects

LINCOLN COUNTY – Lincoln County Highway Commissioner John Hanz on Thursday, May 13 announced nine projects that the Lincoln County Highway Department has planned for this summer.

The projects include bridge repair, chip sealing, pulverizing and paving, and road construction, according to a release from the Highway Department.

“Hanz will provide detailed information when it becomes available,” the release said, noting that the roads seeing work will be closed, and delays should be expected.

Bridge repair

The Wisconsin River Bridge between County Highway E and State Highway 107 in the Town of Rock Falls will be closed for approximately 30 days for deck repair. The project is slated to start in June or July.

Chip sealing

Numerous Lincoln County roads will see chip sealing work beginning between June 14 and June 25.

The Highway Department will chip seal the entire 1.98-mile stretch County Highway CCC in the Town of Russell. Other chip sealing projects on the calendar include a five-mile section of County Highway JJ in the Town of Merrill, from Pier Street to Ash Road; 7.87 miles of County Highway C in the Town of Schley, from State Highway 17 to the Langlade County line; a 12.59-mile stretch of County Highway M in the Town of Corning, from State Highway 64 to the Taylor County Line; and 4.43 miles of County Highway R in the Town of Merrill, from County Highway K to termini.

Pulverizing, paving, road construction

Larger-scale projects, including pulverizing and paving and road construction, are slated to begin sometime between mid-July and mid-September.

3.7 miles County Highway A in the Town of Harrison, from Mail Route Road to the Oneida County line; 3.1 miles of County Highway A in the Town of King, from U.S. Highway 51 to the Wisconsin River Bridge; and 1.42 miles of County Highway H in the Town of King, from County Highway A to County Highway D, are slated to see work done this summer.
