Tomahawk Hockey Association teams compete, find success at State Championships

The Tomahawk Hockey Association teams found no shortage of success in the State Championships this month.

 

The Tomahawk Bantam youth hockey team won the 14U 4A WAHA Bantam State Championship at the Bay Area Civic Center in Ashland on Sunday, March 7. The Bantams took down Marinette on Friday, March 5 by a score of 18 to 1, before defeating Ashland the following day 9 to 3. The Bantams faced Sparta in the championship game and came away with a 7 to 1 win to secure the championship. The team is made up of Scout Stromberg, Brayden Larson, Austin Lamer, Sawyer Hanna, Trevor “LT” Schumann, Caiden Reichelt, Rex Reilly, Aaron Wanta, Alex Clifford, Beau Stromberg, Carson Childers, and Trevor Seliskar. Coaches are Glenn Hanna, Dewey Reilly, and Jason Stromberg. This team has won State three times: first as Squirts, and then as Pee Wees, and now as Bantams. Nine Bantams will move up to the high school team next season.

 

The Tomahawk Squirt youth hockey team took home the second-place trophy after competing in the WAHA Squirt 10U 4A State Championships held at the Marinette Community Rec. Center in Marinette, Wis. Tomahawk took down the Milwaukee Blaze 6 to 2 and Ashland 2 to 1 on Saturday, March 6, before facing the Burnett Blizzard in the championship game on Sunday, March 7. Tomahawk ultimately fell by a score of 12 to 6. The team includes Kaeden Bethel, Hunter Brighum, Jackson Brown, Finley Carew, Ben Cerny, Max Childers, Amirah Dickens, Abe Flohr, Blake Diermeier, Carson Lamer, Hallie Pierce, Ryder Seliskar, Hunter Stelzer, and Breck Stromberg. Coaches are Justin Cerny, Jason Stromberg and Jake Flohr.

 

The Tomahawk Pee Wee A team played in the 4A Pee Wee State Tournament in Park Falls. They took down the Milwaukee Blaze 13 to 0 on Friday, March 12 and Marinette 13 to 3 on Saturday, March 13 before defeating Altoona by a score of 8 to 2 to become State Champions. The team is made up of Jake Albert, Colin Black, Oliver Childers, Jonah Dickens, Mason Jaecks, Brayden Lamer, Max Larson, Cole Peterson, Jett Reilly, Hudson Seymour, Landyn Seymour, and Braxton Stromberg. Coaches are Jason Stromberg, Jay Peterson and Dewey Reilly.

 

The Tomahawk Pee Wee B team played in the 3B Pee Wee State Tournament in Rhinelander, where they defeated Oshkosh 6 to 2 and Merrill 11 to 1 to advance to the championship game against Somerset. Tomahawk ultimately won 5 to 4 in a nail-biter, with Teddy Frederickson scoring the game winning goal off an assist from Michael Samundsen in double overtime. The Pee Wee B team is made up of Jordyn Carew, Rocco Carew, Amirah Dickens, Cami Flohr, Teddy Frederickson, Karson Hanse, Sam Hawley, Connor Johnson, Zack Larson, Jack Reilly, Michael Samundsen, Breck Stromberg, and Joseph Zastrow. Coaches are Mike Reilly and Jake Flohr.
