League of Women Voters providing online candidate guides on Vote411

For the Tomahawk Leader

WISCONSIN – The League of Women Voters of the Northwoods (LWVNOW) published the Fall Primary Voter Guide on www.VOTE411.org on July 13 “to provide Wisconsin voters with essential information about the upcoming Partisan Primary on Aug. 11,” the league said in a release.

Those visiting the site can type in their address and see information about the candidates on their ballot and compare their answers to the League’s questions.

The Aug. 11th primary will narrow the field of candidates running for Florence County District Attorney and Vilas County Register of Deeds.

State races for the U.S. House of Representatives, State Senate, and State Assembly have already been published by the League of Women Voters of Wisconsin. The Presidential voter guide will be published by the League of Women Voters of the U.S.

With limited opportunities to learn about the candidates in person, online voter guides on Vote411 are especially important for voters making their plans to vote during the pandemic, LWVNOW said.

VOTE411.org is a ‘one-stop-shop’ for election information, providing simple, easy tools to help Wisconsin voters navigate the voting process,” LWVNOW explained. “VOTE411.org provides candidate information, a voter registration tool, polling place information, and other helpful election information for all voters nationwide.”

LWVNOW’s Fall Election Voter Guide will be released on Sept. 11 and will cover the candidates running for County Clerk, District Attorney, Register of Deeds, and Treasurer in Florence, Forest, Langlade, Lincoln, Oneida, and Vilas counties, as well as the Vilas County Surveyor.

“We encourage all voters to make their plans to vote and consider voting absentee in the August 11 and November 3 elections,” LWVNOW stated. “VOTE411.org is an excellent resource to help voters make a voting plan so they are prepared to cast their vote confidently whether they choose to vote absentee prior to the election or in-person on Election Day.”

The LWVNOW encompasses Florence, Forest, Langlade, Lincoln, Oneida and Vilas counties. The local league belongs to the state and national League of Women Voters, “a non-partisan organization devoted to helping members and fellow citizens develop educated political opinions and act upon them through the democratic process.” The league’s monthly meetings and sponsored events are open to all.
