Those attending the Fall Ride over the weekend weren’t the only ones bringing the noise, as Auburndale was in town to take on Tomahawk at Hatchet Field and got the convincing 65-6 GNC win.
“We didn’t have the kind of start anyone wants to have in a football game. Our team was ready to play, but we gave Auburndale too many short fields and they took advantage,” stated Hatchet head coach Sam Hernandez.” It was nice to see our line continue to improve and start to open up holes in our running game and we were able to surpass 100-yards rushing for the first time this year.”
Tomahawk finished the night with 106 yards on the ground while the Aparches finished with 237 yards on 42 carries. A big chunk of the Hatchets’ yards came in the second quarter when Cody Jablonski busted through the line and blew by some Apache defenders in route to a 75-yard touchdown run.
“Auburndale is a physical, athletic and well coached football team that showed up and took advantages of their opportunities all night long, Hernandez stated. “Our kids are starting to understand our system and it will continue to pay off for us as the year goes on.”
The game served as more than just football, as the Hatchets used the night to help bring awareness to Juvenile Diabetes as well as raise funds to donate to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund of Northeastern Wisconsin. The coach added both teams did an outstanding job bringing awareness to Type 1 Diabetes in both communities.

Next up for Tomahawk, the Hatchets travel to Lomira for a non-conference tilt that gets underway Friday, Sept. 20 at 7 p.m.
