Kenneth ‘Kenny’ N. Frey

Kenneth “Kenny” N. Frey, age 73, of Tomahawk, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, April 1, 2023. Kenny was born in the Town of McMillan, Marathon County, Wis., on May 16, 1949, to the late Norman and Gloria (Pokallus) Frey.

Kenny grew up in Marshfield, Wis., and was a 1967 graduate of Marshfield High School. He later attended the University of Wisconsin-Stout until enlisting in the United States Army, before being drafted, to serve in Vietnam. He proudly served his country from 1969 to 1971. After returning from the military, Kenny worked several careers before finding his true calling as a truck driver. He began employment for Roehl Transport as a trucker and trainer, achieving major milestones in his driving career including driving three million accident-free miles and receiving many safety and driver-of-the year awards. He retired in 2012. He later worked at Stargazer Medical Transport where he was employed the last five years. Kenny served as former president of the VFW in Marshfield. Always wanting a cabin on the water, he called it his little slice of heaven in Tomahawk where he loved fishing, watching the wildlife, taking care of his flowers, and golfing. He was an avid sports fan who followed the Brewers, Badgers, Bucks, and Packers. Kenny enjoyed socializing and sharing his pickled foods and baked goods. His door was always open to everyone. If he knew you were coming, he put the log on the fire, turned on the grill, and filled the coolers. He lived his life on his own terms and was a fun-loving jokester to all. Kenny will be missed by all whose lives he touched.

Survivors include his love and partner in life, Ariel Walker; his son, Troy (Sherry) Frey; his daughter, Tonya (Dennis) Frey; Ariel’s children, Nicole (Everett) Rice and Brian Straveler Jr.; his brothers, Gary (Mary) Frey, Paul (Kathy) Frey, and Danny (Alice) Frey; and his sister, Darla (Tom) Frey. Kenny is further survived by his grandchildren, Adam, Joelle, Erica, Anthony, Barrett, and Emmy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Gloria; his sister, Alita; and his daughter-in-law, Cindy.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date and announced at that time. Generations Funeral Home & Crematory, Tomahawk, is assisting the family. You may view Kenneth’s obituary and leave online condolences at www.generationsfuneral.com.
