Lincoln County Sheriff’s Report: Sept. 23, 2024

As reported by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Monday, Sept. 23:

On 09/18/24 deputies were sent to the area of Hillside Dr. west of Champagne Dr. in the Town of Merrill for a one motorcycle crash with injuries. When deputies arrived on scene, the motorcycle operator and only passenger was located with significant injuries. In speaking with the driver, a Merrill man, 52, the deputies noticed signs of impairment. The driver indicated he knew he shouldn’t be driving and that he lost control of the bike on a curve. Due to the subject’s injuries, the deputies were unable to ask him to do sobriety tests. The driver was arrested for a third offense of OWI. The driver was transported by ground ambulance to Aspirus Wausau Hospital. Due to his injuries, he was released to a responsible party.

On 09/22/2024 a deputy was sent to the area of the W7200 block of STH 86 in the Town of Bradley for a reported crash with injuries. The R/P stated that the driver had told them that he crashed the night before and sat in the vehicle for several hours before he was discovered. The deputy made contact with the driver, a Milwaukee man, 26, who stated he was at a family property in Price County the night before, where he stated he did have an alcoholic beverage. The man indicated he didn’t know why he was traveling in the area that he was and that he didn’t remember the crash. According to the deputy, it appeared as though the subject gradually drifted off the road and crashed. The driver was transported to Aspirus Tomahawk Hospital.

Deputies conducted 80 traffic stops and 21 security checks.

Deputies responded to seven car vs. deer crashes and two car vs. bear crashes.                              

Driving complaints: 19.                

The 911 Center took two hang-up calls and 14 nuisance calls.
