For the Tomahawk Leader
RHINELANDER – Nicolet College is reminding the public that free Academic Success Centers are available throughout the Northwoods during the fall 2024 term.
A release from Nicolet said the Academic Success Centers provide valuable resources to students and community members seeking academic support.
“The Academic Success Centers are staffed by experienced instructors and are available at various locations, making it easy for individuals to receive personalized assistance with their educational needs,” Nicolet stated.
“Transportation and arranging childcare are all-too-common barriers for individuals to earn their GED or HSED,” said Lisa Young, Nicolet College Dean of Academic Support. “With these outreach centers, we’ve been able to remove those barriers, make the learning process much more flexible for students and ultimately opening the door wider for more people to earn their GED or HSED so they can get farther ahead in life.”
Nicolet said the Academic Success Centers are designed to help students with a wide range of academic needs, including tutoring, test preparation and study skills.
Among the locations where free services are offered to the public is the Tomahawk Public Library, 300 W. Lincoln Ave., Tomahawk. Academic support is available at the library on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Academic support is also available in Crandon, Eagle River, the Forest County Potawatomi Community, Lac du Flambeau, Minocqua/Woodruff and Rhinelander.
English Language Learner (ELL) classes are offered in the Lakeside Center at Nicolet College, 5364 College Dr., Rhinelander, on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m.
