Marie G. Jeske, age 73, of Merrill, Wis., passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2024, at her home under the care of her family and Interim Hospice. Marie was born in Park Falls, Wis., on October 3, 1950, to the late Wilfred and Lena (Hill) Meindl.
Marie grew up a farmer’s daughter and attended the Butternut High School. She then moved to Milwaukee, Wis., working as a waitress. In 1975, Marie moved back to the Irma/Gleason area where she met Richard Jeske. They were married on Oct. 12, 1979. Richard and Marie lived in the Merrill area for a short time, in addition to living in Butternut, Wis., and Adams, Wis., for a period of time. Marie again worked as a waitress and then as a secretary for an electronics factory. She attended Mid-State Technical College and received a certification in computer and information science. Marie was employed at the Adams County Library in regard to their Literacy Council. Marie and Richard returned to Merrill after Richard’s retirement. She enjoyed volunteering her time with various programs, playing the piano for the Pine Crest residents and Kindhearted, and also enjoyed sewing, crafts, and gardening.
Survivors include her husband, Richard Jeske; her sons, Matthew (Michelle) Meindl, and Andrew Meindl; her brother, David Meindl; and her sister, Jean Meindl. She is further survived by her three grandchildren, Peter, Hannah, and Samuel. She was preceded in death by her parents. Memorial services for Marie Jeske will be held on Saturday, Sept. 21, 2024, at 2 p.m., at the Berean Baptist Church in Tomahawk. Rev. Charles Scheele will officiate. The family will receive friends for visitation from 1 p.m. until the time of services at 2 p.m. Inurnment will take place at the Chat Community Cemetery in Irma, Wis.
