Tomahawk community holds 9/11 remembrance ceremony

For the Tomahawk Leader

TOMAHAWK – Twenty-three years after the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks in New York City and Washington D.C., the Tomahawk community this week carried on its tradition of honoring the victims and the responding emergency personnel.

Tomahawk’s first commemorative program was held in 2002 on the one-year anniversary of the attacks, and ceremonies have been held each year since.

The Tomahawk Fire Department thanked those who attended this year’s ceremony, held in Veterans Memorial Park on Wednesday, Sept. 11.

“Your presence and support mean a great deal to us as we come together to honor and remember the lives lost and the resilience of our community,” the department said. “Your participation is a testament to the strength and unity that defines us. We are deeply grateful for your continued support and for helping to keep the spirit of remembrance alive. Never forget.”
