LINCOLN COUNTY – The Lincoln County Health Department (LCHD) is again holding its Walk-in Wednesday adult flu shot clinics.
The clinics will be held at LCHD, 607 N. Sales St., Merrill, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each Wednesday from Sept. 18 through Nov. 13.
Regular and high dose flu vaccines are available. No appointments are needed. Flu vaccines will be available while supplies last.
Medicare Part B, Security Health Medicare Advantage and Railroad Retirement are accepted. LCHD is unable to bill any other Medicare Advantage Plans, private insurance (Humana, United Health Care, Blue Cross Blue Shield, etc.), or Medical Assistance. An insurance card is required. For those without these insurance plans, cash, checks or credit cards are accepted.
A release from LCHD said an annual flu vaccine is recommended for those six months and older every fall.
“It’s the best way to protect you and your loved ones from getting the flu,” LCHD stated. “Certain people are at higher risk for flu complications. This includes adults who are 65 years and older; people who have chronic medical conditions, such as asthma, diabetes or heart disease; pregnant women; and children younger than five years.”
LCHD noted that it’s important to remember that it can take up to two weeks for the flu vaccine to take full effect.
“If you do get the flu after getting vaccinated, it is more likely to be a milder case,” LCHD said.
