Historical Society hosting ‘Kindergarten Reunion’ next week

For the Tomahawk Leader

TOMAHAWK – The Tomahawk Area Historical Society will host a “Kindergarten Reunion” next week.

The reunion will be held in the Old Kindergarten schoolhouse, 18 E. Washington Ave., Tomahawk, on Friday, July 5, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The building is now one of the Historical Society’s museums.

“Besides ongoing and special Kindergarten-related displays, the event also will feature old-time games for young and young-at-heart,” the Historical Society said, noting that pictures of school classes and events in the building, along with memories from school days, are sought.

Commemorative mugs will be for sale. Although there will be seating available, the Historical Society recommends bringing lawn chairs.

Commemorative mugs that read “I’m so old my kindergarten is now a museum!” will be for sale. Contributed photo.

“So many people we talk to attended Kindergarten in that building,” said Kathy Tobin, one of the event’s organizers. “When we mention the reunion, there’s an immediate excitement about the event and memories begin to flow. We hope to capture some of those memories ahead of time and even more on July 5.”
