Tomahawk tradition returns with North for the 4th shirt sale

For the Tomahawk Leader

TOMAHAWK – Tomahawk Main Street Inc. (TMS) has launched its 2024 North for the 4th shirt sale, carrying on a decades-long Tomahawk tradition.

This year’s shirt is red with the words “North for the 4th” over a Wisconsin background.

Shirts are available at Honeycomb L.O.F.T., 216 W. Wisconsin Ave., Tomahawk, with additional locations to follow. TMS recommends getting shirts early, as they usually sell out.

Youth T-shirts are $20.00 each and are available in sizes small through XL.

Adult T-shirts are available in sizes small through 5XL and are $25.00 each.

Available again this year are pocket hoodie sweatshirts and women’s racerback tank tops, which will only be sold at Honeycomb L.O.F.T.

Pocket hoodies, sold for $45.00 each, are available in adult sizes small through 3XL.

Women’s racerback tank tops are available in sizes XS through 2XL and are sold for $24.00 each.

The North for the 4th T-shirt fundraiser started about four decades ago, when the shirts were sold to raise funds for area environmental groups. After those groups disbanded, the Tomahawk Downtown Business Council headed the fundraiser.

Today, TMS organizes the shirt sale.

Over the years, the shirts have featured a variety of wildlife, including eagles, loons, deer and owls, as well as themes highlighting several Tomahawk Independence Day traditions, such as the children’s frog jump and the Tomahawk Fire Department’s water fight.

Last year, the shirts featured a “Top Gun” theme.

“This has become one of Tomahawk Main Street Inc.’s biggest fundraisers, so thank you all for supporting our downtown,” TMS stated.
