Nicolet College to offer free Culinary Career Essentials program this summer

RHINELANDER – Nicolet College will offer a Culinary Career Essentials program this summer at no cost.

“Our expert chefs will prepare students for entry-level culinary positions,” a release from Nicolet stated.

A release from Nicolet said the college’s expert chefs will prepare students for entry-level culinary positions, and the comprehensive program is designed to “equip students with strong kitchen skills and cooking techniques for successful careers in the food service industry.”

The hands-on courses will include food safety, essential kitchen skills and culinary basics.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone looking to start a career in culinary arts,” said Culinary Arts teacher Vicki Mendham. “Our program is designed to provide students with the essential knowledge they need to succeed in a professional kitchen.”

Classes will be held at Nicolet, 5364 College Dr., Rhinelander, from Friday, June 21 through Friday, June 28; and from Monday, July 8 through Friday, July 26, from 8 am to 4:30 p.m.

Upon successful completion of the courses, students will have the opportunity to participate in paid work experiences, spanning three to four weeks, starting in August, according to the release. Students age 16 and older are eligible to attend.

This program is made possible by the North Central Wisconsin Workforce Development Board.
