Richard P. Humphrey, 85, of La Porte, passed away peacefully, Friday, May 10, 2024 at Northwest Health, La Porte.
He was born June 23, 1938, in Michigan City, to Floyd and Bernice (Burklow) Humphrey.
On June 9, 1984, in Tomahawk, Wisconsin, he married Joy (Arnott) Humphrey who survives.
Richard grew up between Michigan City and Goreville, Illinois. He entered the Air Force and served our country from 1955 to 1958. Upon his return from the military he was employed at Nipsco, retiring after 33+ years of service. At one time while working at Nipsco, he served as a representative of the union.
He is survived by his wife, Joy; one son, Charles; and three step-sons, Harvey, Brian, and Kevin; three grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. He is also survived his former wife, Sue (Duszynski) Humphrey.
Richard was preceded in death by one brother; and one sister, of whom he was the youngest.
