Nicolet College, UW-Parkside announce transfer agreements for online business administration program

For the Tomahawk Leader

RHINELANDER – Nicolet College and the University of Wisconsin-Parkside have forged two new articulation agreements designed to “facilitate a smooth transition for Nicolet College graduates into UW-Parkside’s renowned online Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) Program,” a release from Nicolet College said.

According to the release, the agreements, tailored to support learners in the Rhinelander and rural northern Wisconsin areas, are “designed to offer students the flexibility to continue their education remotely while building upon the academic foundation achieved at Nicolet.”

“The agreements focus on two concentrations of the BSBA program: the General Business Administration Concentration and the Business Analytics Concentration,” the release stated. “In both cases, students completing Nicolet College’s Associate of Applied Science in Business Management and meeting UW-Parkside’s admission criteria will be eligible for admission to the BSBA program, with up to 60 transfer credits.”

The BSBA program provides the opportunity for students to learn and demonstrate fundamental business management skills applicable to nearly every career field, according to the release.

“The program is offered as a UW Flexible Option – an online, self-directed, competency-based education format designed for busy adults who want the freedom and flexibility to complete a degree or certificate on their own terms,” the release stated. “Every student is paired with an Academic Success Coach for personalized mentoring and advising. The coach helps create a learning plan and timeline tailored to fit each student’s knowledge, needs, and schedule.”

The release said the agreements between Nicolet College and UW-Parkside signify a “collaborative effort between faculty, student services and administration from both institutions to ensure a seamless transfer process for students.”

Dr. Lynn Akey, Chancellor of UW-Parkside, and Kate Ferrel, President of Nicolet College, both expressed enthusiasm about extending educational access via these new agreements.

“These agreements underscore our commitment to providing accessible pathways to higher education for students across the state of Wisconsin,” Akey said. “By partnering with Nicolet College, we are extending the impact of UW-Parkside and empowering learners to achieve their academic and professional aspirations.”

“This marks a significant milestone for Nicolet College and is a major opportunity for our community,” Ferrel stated. “It puts bachelor’s degrees within reach, while allowing our students to continue living and working right here in the Northwoods.”
