Golf: Hatchets brave chilly temps, wind at Reedsburg meet

For the Tomahawk Leader

REEDSBURG – The Tomahawk Hatchet golf team traveled to Reedsburg for a meet on Friday, April 19, where they placed 14th out of 24 teams.

The Tomahawk golfers ended the day with a team score of 360. The top three teams on the day were Holmen (318), Lodi (325) and La Crosse Central-Logan (326).

Sawyer Hanna and Austin Lamer were the Hatchets’ top golfers, each ending with a score of 86. Carson Childers (93), Owen Dickrell (95) and Caiden Reichelt (96) rounded out the Tomahawk scorers.

Coach Garth Gerstenberger said it was 42 degrees with winds of 20-plus miles per hour during the meet.

“We hit the ball well off of the tee today,” Gerstenberger stated after the meet. “We didn’t chip as well as we would have liked to. Overall, it was a good day against some tough competition.”

All five Hatchets recorded a birdie, Gerstenberger noted.
