Darwin ‘Duds’ Kluball

Darwin “Duds” Kluball, age 86, of Tomahawk, passed away Friday, March 8 2024, at Marshfield Medical Center in Marshfield. Darwin was born April 25, 1937, in Tomahawk to the late Rudolph and Margaret (Steger) Kluball. He married Judith Arneson on Dec. 21, 1957. Judith passed away in 1994. He then married Virginia Bednorski in 1996. Virginia passed away in 2010.

Darwin attended Tomahawk Public Schools and graduated from Tomahawk High School in 1955. After graduating he served with the Marine Corps for three years out of California. After the Marine Corps he lived the remainder of his life in Tomahawk. He worked at Owens Illinois/Packaging Corp for 38 years. He was recognized by the Tenneco Corporation for never having a sick day in his 38 years of work!

In 1984 he purchased a cabin on Lake Nokomis. He lived at the cabin for the summer months. The cabin was always overflowing with family and friends. The cabin brought much joy to Darwin. He enjoyed rides on the water in the AARP’s barge and loved to fish. He passed his love of fishing on to his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Opening fishing weekend became a great family tradition with his son, all his grandsons, great grandsons, and extended close family. Many memories, many stories!

Darwin was very involved with the hockey program. He spent many hours helping to maintain the outdoor ice and drive the first Zamboni. He was a lifelong member of Grace Lutheran Church in Tomahawk. He was very active in his church family with reading, usher, and greeter. He enjoyed visiting with everyone! He had a passion for setting puzzles and loved being around the dining table setting them with his family. He was always happy and had a wonderful sense of humor. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends!

Survivors include daughter Kathy (Leisa) Glaeser, Tomahawk, son James (Barb) Kluball, Marshfield, step-daughter-in-law Kathy Fink-Bednorski, grandchildren Michael (Laura Burkardt) Kluball, Sarah (Matt) Peterson, David (Elyssa) Kluball, Ryan (Katie) Brunner, Nick (Amanda) Glaeser, step-grandchildren Jenna Glaeser, Maxine Gustafson, Allison (Eric) Smet, Ben Fink-Bednorski, Abbi Fink- Bednorski, Isabelle Bednorski, and Adam Bednorski, great-grandchildren Amelia Brunner, Margaret Brunner, Greta Glaeser, Mason Peterson, Carson Peterson, and Harlee Kluball. He is also survived by his sister Joan Scheffler

He is preceded in death by his wives, Judith and Virginia, two step-sons, Michael and Greg Bednorski, step-daughter-in-law Tammy Bednorski, and his five brothers, Charles, Robert, Delmar, Jerome, and Ralph.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 26 at Krueger Funeral Home from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. There will be visitation at Grace Lutheran Church on Wednesday, March 27 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. followed by a service at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Grace Lutheran Church in Tomahawk.
