LINCOLN COUNTY – Healthy Minds for Lincoln County is slated to host a pair of Adult Mental Health First Aid trainings.

The free training sessions are sponsored by UW-Madison Division of Extension and Aspirus Health.

A release from the Lincoln County Health Department (LCHD) said Mental Health First Aid “teaches you how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illness and substance use disorders.”

“This training gives you the skills you need to reach out and provide initial support to someone who may be developing a mental health or substance use problem and help connect them to the appropriate care,” LCHD stated.

The first session will be held at the Lincoln County Health and Human Services Building, 607 N. Sales St., Merrill, on Monday, April 1 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Participants will complete a full in-person training. Interested individuals must register at www.bit.ly/48m33c2 by Monday, March 25.

The second session will be held at the Tomahawk Public Library, 300 W. Lincoln Ave., Tomahawk, on Wednesday, May 8; and Friday, May 10, from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day. Participants will complete a two-hour, self-paced online class and then complete two half-day trainings. Participants must attend both sessions. Interested individuals must register at www.bit.ly/3T2WBSH by Monday, April 29.
