David G. Long

David G. Long, age 83, of Tomahawk, passed away on Friday, Feb. 16, 2024, at his home. Dave was born on Oct. 30, 1940, in Hilliard, Fla., to the late Clarence and Flornia Long. He grew up in Florida and later lived in Michigan and Milwaukee, Wis., and Boulder Junction, Wis. Dave attended high school in Minocqua, Wis. After graduation, he served his country in the United States Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

Dave moved back to Florida for several years. He was married to Carol Streeter on July 1, 1978; she survives. They moved back to Wisconsin where they lived in Merrill and Irma before moving to Tomahawk in 1991. Dave held various jobs throughout his life working in construction, was a dispatcher, and volunteered as a DJ at WXPR in Rhinelander. He was employed as a web designer for many years before starting his own company, Northgoods. Dave also started a computer-user company in Tomahawk. He enjoyed books, old movies, history, the Bible, and anything biblical. Most of all, he cherished time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Long; his sons, Kelly Sean Long and David Michael Long; his daughters, Kim Long and Sarah Kromrie; his brother, Jeff Long; and his sisters, Donna Long, Barb Morgan, and Cheryl Long. Dave is further survived by his four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, and step-mother.

Funeral services for David Long were held on Friday, Feb. 23, 2024, at 11 a.m., at the Northland Bible Church in the Town of Nokomis. Pastor Alex Lindsay officiated. The family received friends for visitation from 9 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. Interment will take place at the Oak Hill Cemetery in the Town of Skanawan in the spring.
