WisDOT seeking public input on 2025 Official State Highway Map

For the Tomahawk Leader

WISCONSIN – The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is seeking public input on the 2025 Official State Highway Map.

A release from WisDOT said after a century of production, the department is looking closely at how new technology and processes can build on the tradition of the map.

“Through the use of geographic information system (GIS) data, the map will better show current infrastructure to help travelers navigate roads throughout the state,” WisDOT stated.

WisDOT is accepting public comments on the map via a survey available at www.wisconsindot.gov/Pages/travel/road/hwy-maps/default.aspx through Thursday, Feb. 29.

“The Official State Highway Map has become an iconic staple for residents and visitors exploring Wisconsin,” said WisDOT Secretary Craig Thompson. “We are excited to leverage GIS technology to more effectively produce this map. As we transition to the new cartography process, we encourage everyone to share feedback on their use of the various map features as we evaluate potential improvements.”

Wisconsin’s Official State Highway Map is distributed free to the public, as required by state law. Printed copies of the map can be picked up free of charge at many locations, including Wisconsin rest areas, Welcome Centers and Travel Information Centers.

Single copies of the map are available by calling Travel Wisconsin at 1-800-432-8747 or by ordering online from www.TravelWisconsin.com.

Information for ordering multiple copies or laminated copies of the highway map is available at www.wisconsindot.gov/hwymap.
