Lincoln County Sheriff’s Report: Jan. 23, 2024

As reported by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Tuesday, Jan. 23:

On 01/19/2024 deputies and officers with the Tomahawk PD were dispatched to the area of USH 8 and Muskellunge Lake Rd. in the Town of Bradley for a report of a vehicle that almost caused a crash and was being operated all over the road and eventually ended up in the ditch. Upon arrival on scene, a deputy made contact with the driver, a man, 27, from Independence, Mo. At the time of the contact, the driver was showing signs of impairment and did admit to drinking prior to the incident. The driver was asked to perform standardized field sobriety tests and refused to do so. As a result, the driver was arrested for a 1st offense of OWI. The suspect was then booked into the Lincoln County Jail, as he was unable to find a responsible party to pick him up.

On 01/20/2024 a deputy with the Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the area of Tannery Rd. south of USH 8 in the Town of Bradley for a reckless driver complaint. It was reported that the suspect vehicle was being operated all over the road. Prior to locating the vehicle, it was reported by the caller that the suspect vehicle had pulled into a private driveway and was out of his vehicle talking to the caller. The deputy made contact with the driver and observed that he was showing signs of impairment. As a result the driver, a Tomahawk man, 59, was asked to perform some field sobriety tests, to which he refused. The suspect was then placed under arrest for a second offense of OWI. He was then transported to the Lincoln County Jail, where he was turned over to Corrections staff for booking.

On 01/21/2024 a deputy was sent to an address on Pine Ave. in the Town of Scott for a report of a probation violation. It was reported to the Sheriff’s Office that the suspect, a Merrill man, 53, was at an address that he was ordered to not be at per his probation rules. Upon investigating, the suspect was located at the house, hiding in the basement. Once located, he was arrested for a violation of his probation rules. The suspect was then transported to the Lincoln County Jail, where he was turned over to Corrections staff.

There were seven reported car vs. deer crashes this week.
