Nearly $27,000.00 raised for local organizations through STAR Splash

TOMAHAWK – The Support Tomahawk Area Resources (STAR) Foundation’s annual STAR Splash was held at Castaways Bar and Grill on Saturday, Jan. 6.

Those with enough moxie to plunge into ice-cold Lake Mohawksin collected pledges before the jump, with half of the money raised going to the STAR Foundation and the other half going to an organization chosen by the jumpers.

Eight teams raised a total of $16,700.00 in donations last weekend.

Four teams jumping on behalf of the STAR Foundation collected $3,241.00; the Hometown Christmas team raised $700.00; a total of $2,260.00 was raised for the Never Forgotten Honor Flight; and the Knight Owls Snowmobile Club collected $745.00.

Tomahawk High School’s Blueline Club hockey team raised the most funds of the day with $9,815.00 and will receive an additional $1,000.00 bonus for their organization for being the top pledgers.

Jackie and Bob Leonhard of Northwoods Community Realty made an additional $10,000.00 contribution to the STAR Foundation, bringing the total raised through the event to nearly $27,000.00.
