Lincoln County Sheriff’s Report: Jan. 8, 2024

As reported by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Monday, Jan. 8:

Over the week, our Lincoln County 911 Center received two 911 nuisance calls/hang ups. The Lincoln County Deputies conducted 44 traffic stops, with four resulting in OWI arrest. Within the county this week, there were six car vs. animal collisions.

On 01/02/2024 at approximately 10:15, in the 11000 block of County Rd. Y, in the Township of Bradley, Lincoln County dispatch center received a call that a person was wandering in the area and taking pictures. A Lincoln County Deputy made contact with a male, 26, from Michigan. The male advised the deputy that he was watching the trains come and go. Nothing further at this time.

On 01/02/2024 at approximately 16:30, Lincoln County 911 Center received a call of a garage fire. Lincoln County deputies, Merrill Fire Department, and Merrill EMS responded to the scene. Tomahawk EMS responded to Irma to provide additional resources. Once deputies arrived on scene, the fire had already been extinguished, but the inside of the garage was still smoldering. No one was injured and the fire department took over and fully extinguished the fire. Nothing further at this time.

On 01/03/2024 at approximately 01:25, in the area of E. Wisconsin Ave. and S. 5th St. in the City of Tomahawk, a Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputy conducted a routine traffic stop. The Lincoln County Deputy made contact with the driver, a Tomahawk man, 57, at his residence due to him not pulling over. The driver exited the vehicle and did not comply with the deputy’s commands. The driver smelled of extremely strong odor of intoxicating beverages. The driver declined field sobriety tests as well as a breathalyzer test. The driver was transported to the Merrill Aspirus Hospital for medical clearance and transported to the Lincoln County Jail. The driver was arrested for OWI, felony bail jumping and resisting/obstructing an officer. The driver was also ticketed for OWI, operating while suspended and failing to obey officer sign/signal. Nothing further at this time.

On 01/03/2024 at approximately 06:40, Lincoln County dispatch center received a call of a one-vehicle rollover in the area of U.S. Hwy. 8 and W. Circle Dr. in the Township of Somo. Lincoln County deputies, Tomahawk EMS and Tomahawk Fire Department responded to the scene. Deputies made contact with a Prentice woman, 65. The driver was not injured, and the scene was cleared. Nothing further at this time.

On 01/05/2024 at approximately 08:45, in the area of County Rd. H and Chase Hill Dr., in the Township of Birch, a Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputy conducted a routine traffic stop. Deputies made contact with the driver, a Tomahawk man, 35, and his passenger, an Irma man, 42. The deputy on scene requested a K9 be deployed on the vehicle due to prior contact with the individuals. The Lincoln County Deputy trained as a Drug Recognition Expert conducted advanced sobriety testing. The driver was arrested for OWI 1st and felony bail jumping. The driver was transported to the Merrill Aspirus Hospital for medical clearance, then transported to the Lincoln County jail. The vehicle was tagged for 48 hours. Nothing further at this time.

On 01/05/2024 at approximately 18:40, in the area of U.S. Hwy. 51 and State Rd. 64 in the Township of Merrill, a Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputy conducted a routine traffic stop. Deputies made contact with the driver, a Merrill man, 27. During the contact with the driver, the deputy placed him under arrest for felony bail jumping, misdemeanor bail jumping 2x, operating while revoked (criminal 4th+) and failure to install IID. The driver was transported to the Lincoln County Jail and the vehicle was tagged for 48 hours. Nothing further at this time.

On 01/06/2024 at approximately 17:20, in the area of U.S. Hwy. 51 and mile marker 210 in the Township of Merrill, a Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputy conducted a routine traffic stop. Deputies made contact with the driver, a Sheboygan man, 42. Upon contact, deputies could smell a mild odor of intoxicants, along with red eyes and slurred speech. The deputy conducted field sobriety tests, and as a result of those tests, the driver was arrested and given citations for OWI 3rd, operating while suspended and speed. The driver was transported to the Merrill Aspirus Hospital for medical clearance and then to the Lincoln County Jail. Nothing further at this time.

On 01/07/2024 at approximately 01:00, in the area of Zenith Tower Rd. and State Rd. 86 in the Township of Tomahawk, a Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputy conducted a routine traffic stop. Deputies made contact with the driver, a Tripoli woman, 31, and her passenger, a Merrill man, 27. The driver was cited for operating while revoked, and the passenger was observed operating a second vehicle and was arrested for six counts of felony bail jumping and also cited for operating while revoked. The passenger was transported to the Lincoln County Jail, and the vehicles were tagged for 48 hours. Nothing further at this time.

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office has received multiple complaints for the area of N10200 block of Sunny Point Rd. in the Township of King regarding trespassing. Lincoln County deputies have taken the necessary steps to prevent further trespassing and ask the public to be aware of where they are.
