Irvin B. King, 89, of Tomahawk, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2023, at Aspirus Tomahawk Hospital.

Irvin was born Aug. 16, 1934, in Merrill, son of the late Benjamin and Edith (Hipke) King. He graduated from Antigo High School and worked as a truck driver for R.O.W., Lincoln Wood, Merrill Manufacturing, and SEMCO. Irv also had a portable sawmill and helped anyone that needed lumber cut. Irv married Letitia ‘June’ Reynolds on July 16, 1982. She preceded him in death on June 2, 2007.

In his younger years, Irv enjoyed hunting, open water fishing, ice fishing, and camping. Irv and June traveled everywhere with their 5th wheel camper. Their most memorable trips were to Alaska, Canada, and Las Vegas. Irv also enjoyed hunting. He was one of the original members of the “Bear Track Inn” hunting club in Newwood. Irv was very sociable and enjoyed driving to Tomahawk, Gleason and Merrill to have lunch with friends.

Survivors include his sons, Gerald King (Mary Hull) of Gleason, Jim (Nadia) King of Merrill, and Tom (Kirsten) King of Birchwood; ten grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Allen King of Merrill. Irv was preceded in death by his wife, June King; parents, Ben and Edith King; and brother and sister-in-law, Richard “Dick” and Delores “Dee Dee” King.

The funeral service for Irv was held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2023, at the Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill. Rev. Greg Laska presided. The burial took place in Summit Cemetery, Town of Summit, Langlade County. The visitation was held Monday, Dec. 18, 2023, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. and again Tuesday after 10 a.m., all at the funeral home.
