Lincoln County Sheriff’s Report: Dec. 18, 2023

As reported by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Monday, Dec. 18:

On 12/14/2023 at approximately 22:25, a deputy stopped a vehicle that was a suspect vehicle in a previous suspicious vehicle complaint, as well as additional traffic violations. The stop took place on N. 4th St. and CTH A in the City of Tomahawk. After making contact with the driver a Rhinelander male, 17, it was observed that the driver showed signs of impairment. The driver was asked to do sobriety tests, and as a result of those tests, he was arrested for a first offense OWI. Three passengers in the vehicle were also cited for underage alcohol violations. The driver was transported to the Lincoln County Jail. Nothing further at this time.

On 12/15/2023 at approximately 20:30, Lincoln County dispatch center received a call of a reckless driver traveling N/B on USH 51 in the Town of Merrill. The vehicle was reported to be swerving all over the road. A deputy assigned to the call located the suspect vehicle and initiated a traffic stop to investigate. The deputy made contact with the driver an Irma man, 44, and found signs of impairment. The driver was asked to perform sobriety tests, and as a result of those tests, he was placed under arrest for 3rd offense OWI. The subject was transported to the hospital for medical clearance, and then to the jail, where he was turned over to jail staff for booking. Nothing further at this time.
