TOMAHAWK – The School District of Tomahawk Board of Education approved a pair of new hires this week.
On Wednesday, Dec. 13, the district announced that current Tomahawk High School (THS) Associate Principal Sheri Woodall will serve as the new Tomahawk Elementary School (TES) Principal, beginning next summer, while Taylor Remington has been appointed as the district’s Community Education Coordinator, a newly-created position.
The board gave the thumbs up to the appointments during its meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 12.
Sheri Woodall
Sheri Woodall, a familiar face around the Tomahawk school complex, is slated to begin in her new position as TES Principal on July 1, 2024. She will remain in her current role as THS Associate Principal for the remainder of the school year before replacing retiring TES Principal Guy Steckbauer.
The district said Woodall brings 28 years of educational experience to the role, with the past 15 of those years being in Tomahawk, where she has a “proven track record of leadership.”
“She has previously served as a high school English/Language Arts teacher, along with numerous leadership roles, before accepting her current position of High School Associate Principal,” the district stated. “Her leadership style emphasizes teamwork and collaboration, innovation and a student-centered approach that aligns seamlessly with the values of our district.”
Woodall said she is “honored to have the opportunity to serve as the Tomahawk Elementary Principal.”
“I am enthusiastic about the opportunity to work collaboratively with our exceptional staff, dedicated families, community partners and bright students,” Woodall stated. “Together, we will continue to build a nurturing and stimulating educational environment that encourages academic excellence, personal growth and a strong sense of community.”
Taylor Remington
In her role as Community Education Coordinator, Taylor Remington will “(spearhead) the district’s community education initiatives, aimed at fostering knowledge, skill development and community engagement.”
The board approved the creation of the new position in September.
The district explained that as the Community Education Coordinator, Remington will work closely with community stakeholder groups, educational partners and individual community members to identify educational needs and grow innovative programs that address those needs, adding that she will also be instrumental in building partnerships, organizing workshops and creating a collaborative learning environment that empowers individuals of all ages.
“We are thrilled to welcome Taylor to our team as the Community Education Coordinator,” the district stated. “Her expertise and dedication to community development align perfectly with our strategic plan. The School District of Tomahawk looks forward to the positive impact that this position will bring to our district and the community at large.”
