THS musicians perform at GNC Music Festival

For the Tomahawk Leader

MINOCQUA – Tomahawk High School (THS) musicians performed at the annual Great Northern Conference (GNC) Music Festival last month.

Lakeland Union High School (LUHS) in Minocqua hosted this year’s All-Conference festival on Saturday, Nov. 11.

Students from each of the seven GNC high schools, including Tomahawk, formed the 56-singer choir and the 60-member band. The All-Conference musicians spent the day with guest conductors Dr. Shannon Gravelle (choir) of UW-Oshkosh and Dr. Scott Teeple (band) of UW-Madison to prepare a concert program.

THS was represented at this year’s festival by Elliot O’Connor (band) and Murphy Koth, Arawen Alberg, Robin Schmidt, Bella Marino, Xan Sutton, Trey Morrison and Galen Schmidt (choir). Douglas Scott Jr. also earned All-Conference honors (choir), but was unable to attend the festival.

“Members of the Festival Choir and Band, along with Dr. Gravelle and Dr. Teeple, presented an evening concert for family and friends that was very well-received,” a release from the THS Music Department said.

A recording of the concert is available on LUHS’s YouTube channel at www.youtube.com/watch?v=jI3zvyQnpqk.
